The trial judge recommends that Shipman, 54, should never be released from prison. Shipman's victims were all patients at his surgery in the North Cheshire township of Hyde, where he had worked for six years leading up to his arrest in September 1998.

  • 2018 - A total lunar eclipse takes place, best visible from the Manitoba/Ontario border in Canada. The Moon appears as supermoon, with perigee being on January 30. It is also the first blue moon eclipse since 1983.
