The drive features fifty double-sided 24-inch diameter platters, served by one arm and one read/write head. Capacity is about 5MB, and transfer rate is 8800 characters per second.

  • 1993 - Norwegian parliamentary election: The Labour Party wins a plurality of the seats, and Prime Minister Gro Harlem Brundtland retains office.
  • 1993 - Palistinian Liberation Organization leader Yasser Arafat and Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin shake hands in Washington D.C., after signing the Oslo peace accord.

  • 2006 - The Dawson College Shooting occurs in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, leaving one student dead and 19 others injured.
  • 2006 - The solar system's largest dwarf planet, designated until now as 2003 UB313, is officially named "Eris"; its satellite is now known as "Dysnomia".
  • 2006 - Death of Ann Richards, Governor of Texas, USA (born 1933).

  • 2007 - The Burj Dubai became the world's tallest free standing structure after surpassing the CN Tower in Toronto.
  • 2008 - Hurricane Ike hits Galveston, Texas, as Category 2, causing estimated damage of US$27 billion, 3rd costliest in US history.
  • 2009 - In Monza, Italy, round 13 of the FIA Formula 1 World Championship is won by Rubens Barrichello.
  • 2010 - Rafael Nadal wins the U.S. Open tennis championship, defeating Novak Djokovic 6-4, 5-7, 6-4, 6-2.
  • 2017 - The International Olympic Committee awards Paris, France and Los Angeles, California the right to host the 2024 and 2028 Summer Olympics, respectively.
  • 2021 - Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob and Anwar Ibrahim, the leader of the main Malaysian opposition coalition Pakatan Harapan, sign a confidence and supply agreement ending the 18-month political crisis that has led to the fall of two successive governments in Malaysia.
  • 2021 - Death of Borisav Jovic, 12th President of the Presidency of Yugoslavia (born 1928).
  • 2022 - Fighting breaks out on the disputed border between Armenia and Azerbaijan, with artillery barrages and drone attacks, resulting in about 100 soldiers killed.
