  • 25th: 1999 - In Sichuan, China, a magnitude 4.5 earthquake occurs.
  • 20th: 2004 - The Central Bank of Suriname changes banknote denomination from gulden to Suriname dollar. Exchange rate is 1000 gulden to 1 dollar.
  • 20th: 2004 - Death of Paul Hopkins, reported to be the oldest living former Major League Baseball player (born 1904).
  • 15th: 2009 - The first commercial flight between Western Europe and Baghdad in at least 17 years lands in Iraq from Denmark.
  • 15th: 2009 - Sri Lanka's military seizes control of Kilinochchi, the Tamil Tiger rebels' de facto capital.
  • 15th: 2009 - Maria de Jesus, believed to be the world's oldest living person, dies at age 115 in Tomar, Portugal.
