  • 15th: 2009 - Canada beats Sweden 5-1 to win gold in the world junior hockey championships. This is Canada's fifth straight championship, and its 15th gold, matching Russia/Soviet Union for the all-time lead.
  • 15th: 2009 - Free-agent outfielder Milton Bradley reaches terms on a three-year, US$30 million contract with the Chicago Cubs.
