- 20th: 2004 - In England, serial killer Harold Shipman is found hanged in his cell at Wakefield Prison, four years after being convicted of murdering 15 patients in Cheshire. Shipman was blamed for the deaths of a further 200 patients at an inquest 18 months ago and some reports claimed that he may have murdered as many as 400 or 500 people.
