  • 90th: 1934 - Black-McKeller Bill passes causing Bill Boeing empire to break up.
  • 80th: 1944 - Birth of Linda Foster in Lancaster, England; actress (Doris - Hank).
  • 80th: 1944 - (night) Germany launches the first V-1 flying bombs against Britain. From 55 launch sites, seven are able to launch a total of ten flying bombs during the night, of which three reach England. One destroys a railway bridge.
  • 70th: 1954 - Milwaukee Braves' Jim Wilson no-hits Philadelphia Phillies, 2-0.
  • 60th: 1964 - South Africa sentences Nelson Mandela to life imprisonment.
  • 60th: 1964 - The Beatles arrive in Adelaide, Australia, and are greeted by an estimated 250,000 fans (the biggest welcome the band would ever receive).
  • 60th: 1964 - Birth of Paula Marshall; actress (Veronica Mars, Out of Practice, Cursed).
  • 30th: 1994 - Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman are murdered outside the Simpson home in Los Angeles, California.
  • 30th: 1994 - Death of Menachem Mendel Schneerson, the Lubavitcher Rebbe (born 1902).
  • 25th: 1999 - Operation Joint Guardian begins - NATO-led United Nations peacekeeping forces KFOR enter the province of Kosovo in the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia.
  • 25th: 1999 - Texas Governor George W. Bush announces he will seek the Republican Party nomination for President of the United States.
  • 20th: 2004 - A 1.3kg chondrite type meteorite (estimated to be four billion years old) strikes a house in Ellerslie, New Zealand, causing serious damage but no injuries.
  • 15th: 2009 - American investment firm BlackRock acquires Britain's Barclays Global Investors for US$13.5 billion, creating the world's largest money manager, with roughly US$2.8 trillion of assets under management.
  • 15th: 2009 - The Pittsburgh Penguins win the NHL's Stanley Cup for the third time in franchise history, defeating the Detroit Red Wings 2-1 in Game 7.
  • 15th: 2009 - Official results of presidential election in Iran show Mahmoud Ahmadinejad defending his re-election with 62.6 percent of votes.
  • 15th: 2009 - Death of Félix Malloum, 3rd President of Chad (born 1932).
  • 10th: 2014 - (to July 13) The 2014 FIFA World Cup is held in Brazil, and is won by Germany.
  • 5th: 2019 - The Supreme Court of Ecuador rules in favor of same-sex marriage, making it legal throughout the country.
