  • 80th: 1944 - German forces begin a second V-2 rocket offensive, on European targets, mainly Antwerp, Belgium, plus ten others.

  • 25th: 1999 - A large earthquake registering 7.6 on the Richter scale shakes Taiwan. About 2,400 people killed, 8,700 injured, 600,000 people left homeless and about 82,000 housing units damaged. Damage estimated at US$14 billion, leading to a two-week halt to manufacturing of many components of personal computers.
  • 15th: 2009 - A 6.1-magnitude earthquake strikes Bhutan and neighboring Himalayan regions, killing ten people and damaging houses, monasteries, and roads.
  • 5th: 2019 - U.S. President Donald Trump approves deployment of several hundred troops and military equipment to Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates following the September 14 attack on Saudi oil refineries.
