Personal Computer history:

  • 1975 - Bill Gates and Paul Allen write to MITS, saying they have a BASIC language for the Intel 8080 processor. They propose licensing it for use on the Altair in exchange for royalty payments.
  • 1979 - Software Arts is incorporated.
  • 1985 - Coleco Industries announces it will sell off its Adam computer inventory and abandon the home computer business.
  • 2008 - China's Lenovo Group introduces three new IdeaPad notebook computers in the United States. One is for sale now for $799. The others will be released in coming weeks and months.
