Personal Computer history:
- 1983 - Apple Computer holds its annual sales conference in Honolulu, Hawaii. The theme of the event is "Leading the Way". The 1984 commercial is shown, then the Macintosh is unveiled.
- 1996 - At the Microprocessor Forum, Digital Equipment demonstrates the Digital 21264 Alpha processor operating at 500 MHz.
- 1997 - In Japan, NEC Computer releases 26 models of the PC98-NX series, its first industry-standard (Windows-Intel) personal computers. NEC also releases 15 new models in its proprietary PC98 series.
Video Game history:
- 1996 - The National Broadcasting Company airs the NewsRadio TV show in the USA. An arcade video game replaces a sandwich vending machine in an office. It is called Stargate Defender, but no actual game play is shown.
- 1997 - Four game developers release the first arcade games based on Intel's Pentium II platform and the Open Arcade Architecture. This system allows game changes by software only, without requiring a physical machine change.
- 2000 - Sega releases the Quake III Arena video game for the Dreamcast in the US.
- 2001 - Sony CEA announces it will release a Linux-enabled version of its PlayStation 2 video game system outside of Japan.
- 2006 - Nintendo releases the Magical Starsign video game for the Nintendo DS in the US.
- 2008 - Ubisoft releases the Far Cry 2 video game for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in the USA and Canada.
- 2012 - Microsoft Game Studios releases the Forza Horizon video game for the Xbox 360.
- 2012 - Electronic Arts releases the Medal of Honor: Warfighter video game for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in the USA.
