Personal Computer history:

  • 1994 - Jim Clark announces to Mosaic Communications employees the new company name: Netscape Communications Corporation.
  • 1996 - Adobe Systems releases the Photoshop 4.0 image editing software for Windows 95, 3.1, NT, Macintosh, and PowerMacintosh systems. Price is US$895.
  • 2002 - Microsoft and Samsung announce they will develop a design for a low-cost handheld computer, to feature Microsoft Pocket PC operating system, Samsung 200 MHz ARM9-based S3C2410 processor, 32 MB memory, 3.5-inch display, Secure Digital card support, and size of 4.1 x 2.8 inches.
  • 2007 - Intel unveils new processors using a 45-nanometer processor. Code name during development was Penryn.
  • 2007 - The Fox Broadcasting Company airs The Simpsons TV show in the US. A personal computer appears.
Video Game history:

  • 1998 - Capcom releases the Resident Evil 2: Dual Shock Version video game for the PlayStation in the US.
  • 1999 - Electronic Arts releases the Medal of Honor video game for the PlayStation in the US.
  • 2002 - Nintendo releases the Donkey-Kong-e video game for the e-Reader in the US.
  • 2002 - Capcom releases the Resident Evil Zero video game for the GameCube in the US.
  • 2002 - Nintendo releases the Mario Bros.-e video game for the e-Reader in the US.
  • 2002 - Sega releases the Sonic Mega Collection video game for the GameCube in the US.
  • 2003 - Sony CEA releases the Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando video game for the PlayStation 2 in the US.
  • 2005 - France issues ten postage stamps depicting video game characters. On 20-cent stamps: Link, Pac-Man, Prince of Persia, Spyro, and Donkey Kong. On 33-cent stamps: Mario, Adibou, Rayman, Lara Croft, and The Sims.
  • 2005 - Atari releases The Matrix: Path of Neo video game for the PlayStation 2 and Xbox in the US.
  • 2005 - Columbia Pictures releases the film Zathura: A Space Adventure to theaters in the USA. A character holds up PlayStation 2 controllers and asks to play "Smash Brothers".
  • 2006 - Nintendo releases the Elite Beat Agents video game for the Nintendo DS in the USA.
  • 2006 - Sony releases the PlayStation 3 video game system in Japan.
  • 2007 - Sony releases the new PlayStation 3 in Japan. It comes with a 40GB hard drive, no PlayStation 2 compatibility, price 39,980 yen.
  • 2007 - The Fox Broadcasting Company airs The Simpsons TV show in the US. A video game is played on a system like the PlayStation, with similar controllers.
  • 2008 - Microsoft Game Studios releases the Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts for the Xbox 360 in the USA.
  • 2008 - Electronic Arts releases the Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 video game for the Xbox 360 in the USA.
  • 2010 - Bethesda Softworks releases The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in the US.
  • 2011 - Bethesda Softworks releases The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim video game for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in the US.
  • 2014 - Ubisoft releases the Assassin's Creed Rogue video game for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in the USA.
