Personal Computer history:

  • 1984 - Jack Tramiel, founder of Commodore International, resigns as president, CEO, and a director. The resignation was due to Chairman Irving Gould's refusal to allow Tramiel's sons in the company.
  • 1999 - Advanced Micro Devices introduces the low-power K6-2 processors, designed for notebook use. They include 3DNow technology, and a 100 MHz processor bus. Speeds and prices are 266 MHz (US$106), 300 MHz (US$187), and 333 MHz (US$299) each in quantities of 1,000.
  • 1999 - SyQuest announces that Iomega will purchase its intellectual property and US assets for US$9.5 million.
  • 2000 - Microsoft announces changes to its executive management. Steve Ballmer remains president and replaces Bill Gates as CEO. Gates remains chairman and becomes new chief software architect.
Video Game history:

  • 2004 - TDK releases the Star Trek: Shattered Universe video game for the PlayStation 2 and Xbox in the US.
