Personal Computer history:

  • 1992 - A US federal court rules that Advanced Micro Devices does not have the right to use Intel's 486 microcode in its microprocessors.
  • 1996 - Steve Jobs meets with senior Apple Computer managers to convince them that NeXT technology is right for Apple.
  • 1997 - Microsoft releases Internet Explorer 4.01 Update Release.
  • 2001 - The Fox Broadcasting Company airs The Simpsons TV show in the US. Two computers appear among stolen items; one appears to be an Apple Computer.
Video Game history:

  • 1982 - Atari signs a long-term agreement with Destron, to market home video game versions of Destron's arcade games.
  • 1992 - The US Federal Trade Commission announces it is closing the case of its two-year investigation of Nintendo, with no further action being warranted.
  • 1994 - A Federal District Court judge in New York upholds the US$208 million patent infringement award against Nintendo, ordering the company to pay Alpex Computer.
  • 1994 - Federal District Court Judge Kimba Wood in New York refuses Nintendo's request for a new trial in the matter of patent infringement against Alpex Computer.
  • 1999 - Sega releases the Shenmue: Chapter 1 Yokosuka video game for the Dreamcast in Japan. Included within the game are Space Harrier and Hang-On video games.
  • 2001 - The Fox Television Network airs the Malcolm in the Middle TV show. A character mentions the Nintendo Entertainment System and Double Dragon 4 video game.
  • 2001 - The Fox Broadcasting Company airs The Simpsons TV show in the US. A bowling alley shows three video arcade machines, including Pong and Nuke Canada.
  • 2002 - Nintendo releases The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past video game for the Game Boy Advance in the US.
  • 2004 - Ubisoft releases the Prince of Persia: Warrior Within video game for the GameCube, PlayStation 2, and Xbox in the US.
  • 2004 - Nintendo releases the Nintendo DS handheld video game system in Japan.
  • 2005 - Microsoft launches the Xbox 360 video game system in Europe.
  • 2006 - Nintendo releases the Nintendo Wii video game system in Japan.
  • 2007 - Activision and Vivendi Games announce a merger, to be called Activision Blizzard. The US$18.9 billion deal is the biggest ever in the videogame industry.
  • 2008 - Square Enix releases the Kingdom Hearts Re:Chain of Memories video game for the PlayStation 2 in the USA.
  • 2008 - Ubisoft releases the Prince of Persia video game for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in the USA.
  • 2014 - Telltale Games releases the Game of Thrones: Episode 1: Iron From Ice video game for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 in the USA.
  • 2014 - Ubisoft releases The Crew video game for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Xbox 360 in the USA.
