Personal Computer history:

  • 1997 - Texas Instruments announces that it has created a manufacturing technique to create integrated circuits using copper wiring. This approach could lead to processors that are 10 times faster than today's chips, while using less power.
  • 2001 - The US Federal Trade Commission issues a statement saying the games industry has "made substantial progress in ending the marketing of violent content to children".
Video Game history:

  • 1994 - The Walt Disney Company creates the Disney Interactive division, to develop and license interactive multimedia products on CD-ROM for computers, and cartridges for Sega Enterprises and Nintendo video game systems. The products will be distributed by Buena Vista Home Video.

  • 2001 - Capcom releases the Mega Man X6 video game for the PlayStation in the US.
  • 2005 - Nintendo releases the Super Mario Strikers video game for the GameCube in the US.
  • 2005 - Nintendo releases the Animal Crossing: Wild World video game for the Nintendo DS in the US.
  • 2006 - Ubisoft releases the Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Vegas video game for the Xbox 360, PlayStation Portable, and PlayStation 3 in the US.
  • 2006 - Konami releases the Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops video game for the PlayStation Portable in the USA.
  • 2017 - Activision releases the Destiny 2: Curse of Osiris video game for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in the USA.
