- 1997 - US District Judge Thomas Jackson issues a preliminary injunction against Microsoft, requiring Microsoft allow Windows 95 licensees the option of not including Internet Explorer. The request for imposition of a US$1 million per day fine is turned down.
- 1998 - Warner Bros. Pictures releases the film You've Got Mail to theaters in the USA. The film title is the phrase used by the America Online software, which is shown and used in the film. The icon for Microsoft Word appears on a computer desktop. An Apple Powerbook and an IBM laptop computer are used throughout the film.
- 2000 - Gabon issues a postage stamp depicting a sledgehammer about to strike a personal computer, to eradicate the Y2K bug.
- 2004 - File downloads of the Firefox Web browser reach ten million.
Video Game history:
- 1992 - Naxat releases the Nexzr video game for the PC Engine in Japan.
- 1998 - Warner Bros. Pictures releases the Jack Frost film to theaters in the USA. A character says he has packed "batteries for the Game Boy".
- 2001 - Sony CEA releases the Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy video game for the PlayStation 2 in the US.
- 2005 - The Fox Broadcasting Company airs The Simpsons TV show in the US. Someone says "... played a lot of Tetris".
- 2006 - Nintendo releases The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess video game for the GameCube in the US.
- 2008 - Sony opens its social networking site PlayStation Home for open beta testing.
- 2012 - Nintendo releases the Paper Mario: Sticker Star video game for the Nintendo 3DS in the USA.
