Personal Computer history:

  • 1986 - Microsoft first sells shares to the public, on the New York Stock Exchange, for US$25.75 per share. The initial public offering raises US$61 million.
  • 1998 - JTS sells Atari assets to Hasbro Interactive subsidiary HIACXI for $5 million.
  • 2002 - Advanced Micro Devices releases the Athlon XP 2100+ processor. Price is US$420 in 1000-unit quantities.
  • 2003 - The National Broadcasting Company airs the Friends TV show in the USA.
    • A laptop computer is used to edit a Web site.
    • Someone says "I'm on my way to buy some PhotoShop software...".

Video Game history:

  • 1996 - In New York, Apple Computer and Bandai demonstrate the Pippin Atmark multimedia system, to recruit software developers.
  • 2006 - Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto is honored as a Knight of Arts and Literature by France's Minister of Culture.
  • 2009 - Capcom releases the Resident Evil 5 video game for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in the USA.
