- 2001 - Advanced Micro Devices launches the 1.33 GHz Athlon processor. Price is US$350 in 1000-unit quantities.
- 2005 - Netherlands issues a 39-cent postage stamp depicting a laptop computer.
- 2006 - Intel releases the 3.73 GHz Pentium Processor Extreme Edition 965 dual core processor. Price is US$999 in 1000-unit quantities.

- 1988 - Howard Lincoln and Minoru Arakawa of Nintendo sign contract with representatives of Electronorgtechnica of the USSR for worldwide home video game rights to the game Tetris.
- 1993 - US Supreme Court refuses to hear appeal from Nintendo over the Lewis Galoob Toys' Game Genie product.
- 1996 - In Japan, Bandai releases the Pippin Atmark multimedia system. It features PowerPC 603 processor, 6 MB RAM, 14.4 kbps modem, CD-ROM reader. Price is 64,820 yen (US$620).
- 1996 - Capcom releases the Resident Evil video game for the PlayStation in the US. The game innovates by creating the survival-horror genre.
- 1996 - TGL releases the Steam Hearts: the Crying Game video game for the PC Engine in Japan.
- 1997 - Namco releases the Tekken 3 arcade game.
- 2002 - The Fox Broadcasting Company airs The Fairly Oddparents TV show in the US. Two characters play "Crash Nebula" on a home video game system. The final question in a Brain-a-Thon competition is about the propulsion system of a spaceship in a video game.
