- 1999 - In the US, Connectix ceases shipping its Virtual Game Station software for the Apple Macintosh computer, complying with a federal court order. Sony filed a trademark and patent infringement lawsuit against the company in January. The software allows Sony PlayStation games to be played on Apple computers.
- 2000 - South Korea issues a 170-won postage stamp depicting a CD-ROM and a computer mouse.

- 2003 - Advanced Micro Devices releases the Opteron processor. It features 32-bit and 64-bit instruction operation, without requiring 32-bit code to be re-written.
- 2003 - Advanced Micro Devices releases the Athlon XP 2500+ processor. Price is US$124 in 1000-unit quantities.
- 2007 - The Fox Broadcasting Company airs The Simpsons TV show in the USA. A laptop computer with mouse and scroll wheel is used in a house to access the Internet. The Web browser indicates this is an Apple computer. An online game is played, "Earthland Realms". Another desktop computer is used to play the online game.
