Personal Computer history:
- 1981 - Xerox introduces the Xerox 8010 Star Information System. It includes a bitmapped screen, WYSIWYG word processor, mouse, laser printer, Smalltalk language, Ethernet, and software for combining text and graphics in the same document. Many features that were developed for the Alto are incorporated.
- 1995 - The US Department of Justice files a lawsuit to block the merger of Intuit and Microsoft.
- 2000 - Advanced Micro Devices announces that its upcoming low-cost processor, currently code-named Spitfire, will be called Duron when it is released in June.
- 2003 - The Fox Broadcasting Company airs The Simpsons TV show in the US. A character takes a laptop computer to a dude ranch, and asks if there is an Internet connection.
- 2004 - Corel releases WordPerfect Office 12 for Windows. Included are Wordperfect word processor, Quattro Pro spreadsheet program, and Presentations slide show software. Price is US$300 for full version, or US$150 for upgrade from a previous version.
- 2005 - Apple Computer releases updated Power Mac G5 systems. They feature single or dual processors operating at 2 to 2.7 GHz. Starting prices range from US$1499 to US$2999.
- 2008 - Advanced Micro Devices unveils its first computer brand, AMD Business Class desktop personal computers, initially aimed at the small- and medium-size business market. The desktops include AMD Phenom X3 triple-core, AMD Phenom X4 quad-core, and AMD Athlon X2 dual-core processors.
Video Game history:
- 1982 - Sid Sheinberg, president of MCA and Universal, meets Arnold Greenberg, president and CEO of Coleco Industries, in Hollywood. Sheinberg says Donkey Kong violates copyright on movie title King Kong.
- 1991 - NCS releases the Shubibinman 2 video game for the PC Engine in Japan.
- 2004 - Capcom releases the Onimusha 3: Demon Siege video game for the PlayStation 2 in the US.
- 2008 - Nintendo releases the Mario Kart Wii video game for the Nintendo Wii in the USA and Canada.
- 2010 - Capcom releases the Super Street Fighter IV video game for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in the US.
- 2011 - Ubisoft releases the Outland video game for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in the US.
