- 1991 - Sierra On-Line announces The Sierra Network, a dial-up modem-accessed service for playing computer games with others.
- 1996 - Apple licenses the Mac OS to IBM, which may sub-license it to other manufacturers.
- 1998 - At the Flint Center Theater, Steve Jobs introduces the Apple Computer iMac computer. It features 233 MHz PowerPC G3 processor, 512 kB backside cache, 32 MB RAM, 4 GB EIDE hard disk, ATI Rage IIc with 2 MB SGRAM video, 15-inch built-in monitor, 66 MHz PCI system bus, 10/100 BaseT Ethernet, IrDA infrared port, 33.6 kbps modem, two USB ports, 24X CD-ROM drive, and Bondi Blue case. Price is US$1299.
- 1998 - Apple Computer introduces the Macintosh PowerBook G3 portable computer. It features 233 to 292 MHz PowerPC 750 processor, 12.3-14.1-inch TFT display, 0-1 MB Level 2 cache, 32-192 MB SDRAM, 2-4 MB SGRAM video memory, 2-8 GB IDE hard drive, 20X CD-ROM drive, floppy drive, 10Base-T Ethernet, ATI Rage LT video controller, 16 bit stereo sound, 32-bit CardBus interface, external VGA output. Size if 12.7 x 10.4 x 2 inches; weight is about 7 pounds. The system runs for about three hours on lithium-ion batteries. Systems are custom built to customer specifications. This is the first Apple computer with new solid-colored Apple logo.
- 2002 - In San Jose, California, the Apple Worldwide Developers Conference is held. Steve Jobs unveils the latest Mac OS version, code-named Jaguar, and the iChat software. QuickTime 6 and QuickTime Broadcaster are released to developers.
- 2002 - Intel releases the 2.26, 2.4 and 2.53 GHz Pentium 4 processors, with 533 MHz front-side bus. Prices are US$423, US$562, and US$637, respectively.
- 2003 - Apple Computer releases updated eMac computers. They feature 800 - 1 GHz G4 processor, 40 or 80 GB hard drive, 17-inch monitor.
Video Game history:
- 1982 - Minoru Arakawa and Howard Lincoln of Nintendo of America meet with Coleco Industries and Universal Studios over the Donkey Kong and King Kong infringement issue.
- 1995 - Nintendo of America announces its Ultra 64 game machine. It uses a 93.75 MHz MIPS R4300i processor manufactured by NEC with 16 kB instruction cache, 8 kB data cache, 64-bit integer and floating-point units, and 32-bit system interface. A 62.5 MHz Reality Coprocessor chip handles audio/video processing. Release target date is April 1996.
- 1998 - Sony releases the Dual Shock controller for the PlayStation in the US.
- 2003 - Konami releases the Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow video game for the Game Boy Advance in the US. Price is $29.99.
- 2004 - Electronic Arts releases the Samurai Warriors video game for the PlayStation 2 in the US and Canada.
- 2008 - Electronic Arts releases the Boom Blox video game for the Nintendo Wii in the USA and Canada.
