Personal Computer history:

  • 1977 - A judge grants MITS' restraining order against Microsoft licensing 8080 BASIC, until July 8 or until the arbiter's determination is made.
  • 1998 - Microsoft receives a stay of the December 1997 court order, allowing Windows 98 to ship including Internet Explorer 4.
  • 2010 - Microsoft launches Microsoft Office 2010, including online versions for "cloud" computing.
Video Game history:

  • 1982 - Arnold Greenberg of Coleco signs agreement with Universal to pay royalties on sales of Donkey Kong.
  • 1999 - Nintendo announces its next-generation console, code-named "Dolphin". It will use a 400MHz "Gekko" processor developed with IBM, based on the PowerPC processor.
  • 2003 - Before the E3 trade show, Microsoft announces Xbox plans, including a demo of Doom 3 and Halo 2.
  • 2005 - The Fox Broadcasting Company airs The Fairly Oddparents TV show in the US. A video arcade is shown in a castle.
  • 2005 - In a televised special on the MTV network in the US, Microsoft reveals the Xbox 360 video game system.
