Personal Computer history:

  • 1982 - The National Computer Conference is held in Houston, Texas.
  • 1983 - At the Summer CES, Commodore International shows the Executive 64, formerly the Commodore SX-100. It has a 6-inch color monitor and is priced at US$995.
  • 1994 - (to June 18) At the Trump Tower in New York City, the Intel World Chess Championship Quarter-finals are held. Game moves are entered on laptop computers, connected by modems to ImagiNation Network for live interactive coverage for viewers.
  • 2000 - United States District Judge Thomas Jackson orders the breakup of Microsoft into two companies, one producing operating systems, the other producing application programs. Microsoft says it will file an appeal of the decision.
  • 2004 - Apple Computer announces the AirPort Express wireless network station. Price is US$129.
Video Game history:

  • 2002 - The Fox Broadcasting Company airs The Fairly Oddparents TV show in the US. A scene takes place in a videogame arcade.
  • 2004 - Nintendo releases The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventure for the Game Cube in the US.
  • 2004 - Nintendo releases the Game Boy Advance SP in classic NES-controller style colors in the US; price is about $100.
  • 2004 - Nintendo releases the Super Mario Bros. video game for the Game Boy Advance in the US.
  • 2004 - Nintendo releases the Donkey Kong video game for the Game Boy Advance in the US.
  • 2004 - Nintendo releases the Ice Climber video game for the Game Boy Advance in the US.
  • 2004 - Nintendo releases the Pac-Man video game for the Game Boy Advance in the US.
  • 2004 - Nintendo releases the Bomberman video game for the Game Boy Advance in the US.
  • 2004 - Nintendo releases The Legend of Zelda video game for the Game Boy Advance in the US.
  • 2004 - Nintendo releases the Excitebike video game for the Game Boy Advance in the US.
  • 2004 - Nintendo releases the Xevious video game for the Game Boy Advance in the US.
  • 2004 - Sega releases the Sonic Advance 3 video game for the Game Boy Advance in the US.
  • 2005 - THQ releases the Juiced video game for the PlayStation 2 and Xbox in the US.
  • 2011 - (to June 9) In Los Angeles, California, the Electronic Entertainment Exposition is held.
  • 2011 - At the Electronic Entertainment Exposition, Nintendo announces the Nintendo Wii U video game system. The tablet-like controller features 6.2-inch high resolution touchscreen display, dual Circle Pdas, "+" Control Pad, ABXY and LRZ buttons, camera, speakers, and microphone.
  • 2011 - At the Electronic Entertainment Exposition, Sony announces the name of its new PlayStation Portable model: PlayStation Vita. Release price is to be US$249.99 (249 euros, 24,980 yen).
  • 2011 - Sony Computer Entertainment releases the Infamous 2 video game for the PlayStation 3 in the US.
