Personal Computer history:

  • 1996 - Twentieth Century-Fox Film Corporation releases the film Independence Day to theaters in Canada. Apple Macintosh desktop and laptop computers are shown.
  • 2001 - Intel releases the 1.8 GHz Pentium 4 processor. It features dual RDRAM memory banks, 400 MHz system bus, and 0.18-micron process technology. Price is US$562 in quantities of 1000.
Video Game history:

  • 1984 - Warner Communications sells off the home video game and computer systems business of Atari to Jack Tramiel for US$240 million in long-term loans. Warner has the option to purchase up to 32 percent interest in the new company for $2 per share.
  • 1992 - Atari withdraws its appeal of the verdict in the antitrust case against Nintendo. Nintendo agrees not to persue legal costs from Atari.
