Personal Computer history:

  • 1984 - The National Computer Conference is held in Las Vegas, Nevada.
  • 1984 - Imagine Software is put into receivership in England.
  • 1985 - Atari begins shipping the Atari 520ST computer. It features monochrome monitor, 512 kB RAM, 3.5-inch floppy drive, BASIC, and Logo. Price is about US$800.
  • 1997 - Apple Computer announces the resignation of Gilbert Amelio as CEO. His severance package is about US$7.5 million. Ellen Hancock also resigns from Apple Computer.
Video Game history:

  • 1982 - Bally Manufacturing debuts the TRON arcade game.
  • 2007 - At the Electronic Entertainment Expo, Sony announces a price drop of US$100 on the PlayStation 3 with 60 GB hard drive, dropping it to US$499. The 20 GB model is now discontinued. In August, an 80 GB version with Motorstorm will debut, for US$599. Once the 60 GB version is sold out, it will be discontinued.
  • 2008 - Activision and Vivendi Games complete their merger, worth $18.8 billion, forming Activision Blizzard.
