Personal Computer history:
- 1977 - At the Warwick Hotel in New York City, Radio Shack (a division of Tandy Corporation) announces the TRS-80 microcomputer. It features Zilog Z80 processor, 4 kB RAM, 4 kB ROM, keyboard, black-and-white video display, and tape cassette for US$599.
- 1982 - Texas Instruments issues a US$100 rebate on the TI 99/4A, effectively reducing the retail price to US$199. The rebate is effective from September 1 until next January 31.
- 2001 - The PCI-SIG group votes unanimously to adopt Intel's proposed 3GIO (also called Arapahoe) as a replacement technology for the PCI system bus in future personal computers. 3GIO is expected to be six times faster than the fastest current version of PCI. The specification is expected to be finalized as PCI 3.0 in mid-2002, with first products arriving in mid-2003, and wide adoption in 2004.
- 2004 - id Software releases the Doom 3 game for Windows computers in the US.
Video Game history:
- 2003 - The Fox Broadcasting Company airs the Futurama TV show in the US. A character plays a TV video game with a wireless controller.
