Personal Computer history:
- 1981 - At the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York City, and in Boca Raton, Florida, IBM announces the IBM Personal Computer, model 5150. The PC features a 4.77 MHz Intel 8088 CPU, 16 kB RAM (expandable to 256 kB), 40 kB ROM, one 5.25-inch floppy drive (160 kB capacity), for US$1565. A fully loaded version with color graphics costs US$6000. Also offered as options are PC-DOS 1.0 (Microsoft's MS-DOS) for US$40, Microsoft BASIC, VisiCalc, UCSD Pascal, CP/M-86 for US$240, and Easywriter 1.0. IBM will sell the new computer to consumers through Sears, Roebuck & Co. and ComputerLand.
- 1981 - IBM introduces the Microsoft Adventure game for the IBM PC, Microsoft's first non-language non-OS software product.
- 1996 - Microsoft releases Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.0 Final Release, 32-bit version, for Windows 95.
- 1996 - Gary Reback, lawyer for Netscape Communications, sends a letter to the Justice Department accusing Microsoft of anticompetitive behavior in its pursuit of market share in web browser software.
- 1997 - Intel files a lawsuit against Digital Equipment, alleging patent infringement on fourteen computer technologies.
Video Game history:
- 2008 - Electronic Arts releases the Madden NFL 09 video game for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in the USA.
- 2010 - Comedy Central airs the Futurama TV show in the USA. A boy plays with a white handheld videogame system looking like a Nintendo DS.
- 2011 - Nintendo drops the price of the Nintendo 3DS from $249.99 to $169.99 in the US.
