  • 1999 - Microsoft releases ActiveSync 3.0 for Windows CE, a software update allowing better communications with desktop computers.
  • 2001 - Be announces it will be acquired by Palm for US$11 million.
  • 2004 - Microsoft releases the Microsoft Works 8 software. Applications include word processor, spreadsheet, database, email, calendar, standalone dictionary, and PowerPoint slide viewer. Price is US$49.95.
  • 2004 - The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office rejects ten patent claims of the University of California, in a review of the patent for how a Web browser opens plug-in applications.
  • 2012 - Sweden issues a postage stamp depicting a laptop computer.
Video Game history:

  • 2000 - Square EA releases the Chrono Cross video game for the PlayStation in the US.
  • 2002 - Electronic Arts releases the Madden NFL 2003 video game for the PlayStation, PlayStation 2, Game Boy Advance, and GameCube in the US.
  • 2005 - Konami releases the Death Jr. video game for the PlayStation Portable in the US.
  • 2005 - Sony CEA releases the EyeToy: Play 2 video game for the PlayStation 2 in the US.
  • 2005 - Sega releases the Sonic Gems Collection for the GameCube in the US.
  • 2011 - Ignition Entertainment releases the El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron video game for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in the US.
