Personal Computer history:
- 1980 - IBM meets with Microsoft again, to talk in general terms about their planned personal computers. IBM asks if Microsoft will develop some programming language interpreters/compilers for it. Bill Gates agrees to supply BASIC and other software development tools. IBM also asks for CP/M, but Gates says Digital Research would have to supply that.
- 1980 - Bill Gates calls Gary Kildall, to arrange a meeting between IBM and Digital Research regarding CP/M.
- 1995 - US District Court Judge Thomas Jackson holds the first and only hearing on the consent decree between Microsoft and the US Department of Justice. Within 17 minutes, he signs his approval of it. The decree will govern Microsoft's licensing practices of Windows for the next 6.5 years, barring the company from linking unrelated software licenses. The ruling comes after five years of investigation of monopolistic licensing practices.
- 1997 - Guernsey issues a 63-pence postage stamp depicting a computer network.
Video Game history:
- 2001 - Capcom releases the Resident Evil Code: Veronica X video game for the PlayStation 2 in the US.
- 2007 - Ubisoft releases the Ghost Recon: Advanced WarFighter 2 video game for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Portable in the US.
- 2007 - 2K Games releases the BioShock video game for the Xbox 360 in the US.
- 2009 - At the gamescon video game convention in Germany, Microsoft gives public demonstration of its new "Natal" technology hands-free Xbox 360 video game controller. The controller uses a microphone combined with visual and infrared cameras to control the onscreen action.
