Personal Computer history:

  • 1994 - Radius acquires the SuperMac company.
  • 1999 - At the Seybold conference in San Francisco, California, Apple Computer unveils the Apple Cinema Display, a 22-inch LCD flat-panel display. Price is US$3999.
  • 1999 - Apple Computer releases the Power Mac G4 computer. It features a 400 MHz PowerPC G4, 64 MB RAM, CD-ROM drive, 10 GB hard disk. Prices start at US$1599.
  • 1999 - Apple Computer iMac computers sold to date: 2 million.
  • 2001 - Intel launches new Celeron processors, at speeds of 950 MHz, 1 GHz, and 1.1GHz. Each features 100 MHz system bus, and 128 kB of level 2 cache. Prices are US$74, US$89, and US$103 respectively.
  • 2004 - Lindows changes its company name to Linspire.
  • 2004 - At the Apple Expo in Paris, France, Apple Computer announces the Apple iMac G5 computer. It features 17- or 20-inch color LCD display, 1.6 or 1.8 GHz PowerPC G5 processor, 256 MB RAM, 512 KB L2 cache, 80 or 160 GB hard drive, DVD-ROM/CD-RW or DVD-R SuperDrive, 64 MB NVidia GeForce 5200 graphics, 10/100 BaseT Ethernet, three USB 2.0 ports, two FireWire 400 ports, AirPort. The 2-inch thick display contains the computer components. Price range is US$1299 to $1899 (919-1349 pounds Sterling).
Video Game history:

  • 1992 - Midway Amusement Games releases the Mortal Kombat video game Version 3.0 to arcades in the US.
  • 1997 - Acclaim Entertainment releases the Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero video game for the PlayStation in the US.
  • 1998 - Activision releases the Tenchu: Stealth Assassins video game for the PlayStation in the US.
  • 1999 - Year to date sales of the Game Boy and Game Boy Color in the USA: 2.68 million.
  • 1999 - Atari Games releases the Gauntlet Legends video game for the Nintendo 64.
  • 2000 - Capcom releases the Resident Evil Survivor video game for the PlayStation in the US.
  • 2000 - Sega drops the price of the Dreamcast in the US from US$199 to US$149.
  • 2004 - Namco releases the Street Racing Syndicate video game for the PlayStation 2, Xbox, and GameCube in the US.
  • 2006 - Total sales to date of the Xbox 360 in the USA: 2.4 million.
  • 2007 - Total unit sales of video game systems in the USA to date: PlayStation 2 39.1 million, Nintendo DS 12.7 million, PlayStation Portable 8.3 million, Xbox 360 6.3 million, Wii 4 million, PlayStation 3 1.75 million.
  • 2010 - Nintendo releases the Metroid: Other M video game for the Nintendo Wii in the US.
  • 2010 - Sega releases the Valkyria Chronicles II video game for the PlayStation Portable in the US.
  • 2017 - Square Enix releases the Life is Strange: Before the Storm video game for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in the USA.
