Personal Computer history:
- 1997 - Motorola Computer Group announces it is leaving the Macintosh systems market, due to inability to reach a viable business agreement with Apple Computer on licensing the Mac OS. Motorola also announces it will not ship StarMax 6000 systems previously announced.
- 2009 - The United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit overturns a US$358 million damages award against Microsoft in a patent dispute with French telecoms equipment firm Alcatel-Lucent. The judge agreed Microsoft did infringe the patents, but said the damages awarded were not justified.
Video Game history:
- 1997 - Midway Amusement Games releases the Mortal Kombat 4 video game Version 1.0 to arcades in the US.
- 2005 - The Fox Broadcasting Company airs The Simpsons TV show in the US. A child complains that Santa Claus gave him a PlayStation box with nothing inside but a coloring book.
- 2012 - EA Sports releases the NHL 13 video game for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
- 2012 - Namco releases the Tekken Tag Tournament 2 video game for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in the USA.
