Personal Computer history:

  • 1996 - Djibouti issues a 150 franc postage stamp for World Telecommunications Day, depicting a personal computer.
  • 2002 - The Fox Broadcasting Company airs The Fairly Oddparents TV show in the US. A personal computer is used to access the Internet; when it is too slow in downloading information, a character throws it out the window: system unit, monitor, and keyboard.
  • 2009 - The Fox Broadcasting Company airs The Simpsons TV show in the USA.
    • A character says "do you know where you can buy ink for an Amiga brand fax machine?".
    • Laptop and desktop computers appear.

Video Game history:

  • 1992 - Enix releases the Dragon Quest V video game for the Super Famicom in Japan.
  • 1998 - The Fox Broadcasting Company airs The Simpsons TV show in the US. A videogame arcade includes various stand-up and sit-in machines, with some names visible: "Larry the Looter", "Touch of Death", "Pack Rat Returns", "Shark Bait", "Satans Funhouse", "Time Waster".
  • 2000 - Acclaim releases the Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX video game for the PlayStation in the US.
  • 2000 - Sony announces it has cut initial US shipments of the PlayStation 2 from 1 million to 500,000, due to shortages of components.
  • 2000 - Atlus releases the Ogre Battle 64 video game for the Nintendo 64 in the US.
  • 2005 - Midway releases The Suffering: Ties That Bind video game for the PlayStation 2 and Xbox in the US.
  • 2005 - EA Sports releases the FIFA Soccer 06 video game for the PlayStation 2, Xbox, and GameCube in the US.
  • 2005 - Midway releases the Midway Arcade Treasures 3 video game for the PlayStation 2, Xbox, and GameCube in the US. Games included: Badlands, Hydro Thunder, Super Off Road, S.T.U.N Runner, Off Road Thunder, Race Drivin'.
  • 2005 - Capcom releases the Capcom Classic Collection video game for the PlayStation 2 and Xbox in the US. Games included: Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts, 1942, 1943, Bionic Commando, Commando, Final Fight, Forgotten Realms, Ghosts 'n Goblins, Ghouls 'n Ghosts, Gun.Smoke, Legendary Wings, Mercs, Section Z, Street Fighter II.
  • 2009 - Nintendo drops the price of the Nintendo Wii system in the US by $50 to US$199.99.
  • 2011 - Sony Computer Entertainment releases The Ico & Shadow of the Colossus Collection for the PlayStation 3 in the US.
  • 2011 - EA Sports releases the FIFA 12 video game for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in the US.
  • 2011 - Konami releases the Pro Evolution Soccer 2012 video game for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in the US.
  • 2011 - Capcom releases the Resident Evil Code: Veronica X video game for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in the US.
