- 2009 - In New York City, the 83rd annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade takes place. Included is the debut of the "Sailor Mickey Balloon", about 61 feet high, filled with 14,000 cubic feet of helium. The balloon promotes the Disney Cruise Line.
