  • 1927 - The ninth Oswald the Lucky Rabbit film, Harem Scarem, premieres at Colony Theater in New York City.
  • 1930 - The Mickey Mouse film Pioneer Days is released to theaters.
  • 1931 - Disney completes the Mickey Mouse film Mickey's Orphans. Minnie Mouse and Pluto also appear.
  • 1940 - The Screen Cartoonists Guild informs Disney it had collected cards from a majority of Disney employees, and would ask for recognition.
  • 1941 - The Donald Duck film Chef Donald is released to theaters.
  • 1958 - The ABC TV network airs the Walt Disney Presents TV show, featuring the film The Shot That Was Heard Around the World, which is the second half of the film Johnny Tremain.
  • 1965 - The NBC TV network airs the Walt Disney's Wonderful World of Color show, featuring Summer Magic, part one.
  • 1981 - The CBS TV network airs the Walt Disney show, entitled A Magical Disney Christmas.
  • 1985 - The Skyfest celebration salute to Disneyland is held in Anaheim, California. A world record one million helium balloons is released over Disneyland.
  • 1985 - Caicos issues ten postage stamps depicting various Disney characters in Mark Twain's Tom Sawyer, Detective, and The Brothers Grimm story Six Soldiers of Fortune.
  • 1986 - Walt Disney Recognition Day is celebrated in the United States.
  • 1987 - The Disney Channel airs the Disney Channel Premiere Film The Christmas Visitor.
  • 1990 - The Espace Euro Disney preview center for Euro Disney open in France.
  • 1990 - The film Euro Disney: Quand L'imaginaire devient réalité (When the Dream Becomes Reality) opens as a preview film at Espace Euro Disney.
  • 1993 - The Disney Channel airs Bing!: His Legendary Years, a biography of Bing Crosby.
  • 1994 - The Walt Disney Company creates the Disney Interactive division by merging the Disney Software division with the Walt Disney Television and Telecommunications division. The division will develop and license interactive multimedia products on CD-ROM for computers, and cartridges for Sega and Nintendo video game systems. The products will be distributed by Buena Vista Home Video.
  • 1995 - Walt Disney Home Video releases the film The Santa Clause in the US on videocassette, and on laserdisc for US$29.99.
  • 1997 - The Beauty and the Beast stage show opens in Stuttgart, Germany.
  • 2008 - The Sleeping Beauty Castle walk-through attraction re-opens in Disneyland.

  • 1901 - Walter Elias is born at 1249 Tripp Avenue, in Chicago, Illinois, to parents Elias and Flora Disney. Walt is named after Reverend Walter Parr.
