  • 1949 - The Pluto film Bubble Bee is released.
  • 1955 - Disney releases the animated short film Aquarela do Brasil to theaters. It was originally released as part of the film Saludos Amigos. José Carioca and Donald Duck appear.
  • 1959 - Disney premieres the live-action feature film Darby O'Gill and the Little People to theaters in Dublin, Ireland.
  • 1972 - The Crystal Arts shop opens in Disneyland.
  • 1985 - Disney names John F. Cooke as new president of The Disney Channel.
  • 1987 - Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer releases the film Spaceballs to theaters in the USA. "Someone says "Did I miss something? When did we get to Disneyland?".
  • 1993 - The Discoveryland Station of the Euro Disneyland Railroad opens at Euro Disneyland.
  • 1994 - Buena Vista Pictures generally releases the animated feature film The Lion King to theaters in the USA. A character sings "It's a Small World after all" to which another character says "No no, anything but that!", a reference to the Disneyland attraction It's a Small World.
  • 1994 - The Electric Umbrella fast-food facility opens in Communicore East in Epcot.
  • 2006 - The Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California, hosts the premiere of the film Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest outdoors.
  • 2006 - The prop ship the Flying Dutchman from the Pirates of the Caribbean films is installed offshore at Castaway Cay island.
  • 2008 - 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment releases the film Futurama: The Beast With a Billion Backs on DVD in the USA and Canada.
    • A short black and white segment mimics Disney's Steamboat Willie.
    • The title sequence mimics many of the early Disney short films.
    • A character says "You didn't like Country Bear Jamboree either.", a reference to the Disneyland performing audio-animatronic bears attraction.

  • 2010 - Comedy Central airs the Futurama TV show in the USA. A movie theater is playing "That Darn Cyclops", a reference to Disney's film That Darn Cat.
  • 2011 - Disney releases the Pixar animated film Cars 2 to theaters in the US.
  • 2011 - Disney releases the animated short Hawaiian Vacationto theaters in the USA.
  • 2016 - The Disney Channel premieres the series Bizaardvark.
  • 2016 - The Disney Channel Original Movie Adventures in Babysitting airs.

Births on June 24

  • 1893 - Roy Oliver is born to Elias and Flora Disney, in Chicago, Illinois. Elias wanted to call him Columbus. Roy became CEO of the Disney company for 40+ years, and president for 25+ years.

Deaths on June 24

  • 2005 - Death of Paul Winchell at age 82; ventriloquist (dummies Jerry Mahoney and Knucklehead Smiff on TV in 1950s/60s), voice actor (Tigger - Winnie the Pooh films).
