  • 1942 - The Donald Duck film Donald's Gold Mine is released to theaters.
  • 1966 - The New Orleans Square area opens at Disneyland. It cost US$15-18 million, and occupies 3 acres. Walt Disney and the mayor of New Orleans, Louisiana, dedicate the area.
  • 1966 - The Cristal d'Orleans shop opens on Royal Street in New Orleans Square at Disneyland.
  • 1966 - The Mint Julep Bar opens in New Orleans Square in Disneyland.
  • 1966 - The Creole Café restaurant opens in New Orleans Square at Disneyland.
  • 1966 - The One-of-a-Kind antique shop opens in New Orleans Square in Disneyland.
  • 1966 - The French Market buffet restaurant opens in New Orleans Square at Disneyland.
  • 1985 - Buena Vista releases the Walt Disney Pictures animated feature film The Black Cauldron to theaters. It cost over US$40 million to make. It is the first animated feature filmed in Technirama-70mm since Sleeping Beauty. It is the first Disney animated feature film to be given a "PG" rating. It also marks the studio's first use of computer-generated images in a feature film. It is the first film to use Animation Photo Transfer process. The film is based on The Chronicles of Prydain series by Lloyd Alexander.
  • 1989 - Tony's Town Square Restaurant opens on Town Square in the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World.
  • 1991 - Disney releases the Touchstone Pictures live-action feature film The Doctor to theatres in four American cities. The film is based on the book A Taste of My Own Medicine by Doctor Ed Rosenbaum.
  • 1994 - The KCAL TV network in Los Angeles airs the special Lion King Celebration: A Roaring Good Time.
  • 1995 - The stage show Beauty and the Beast opens in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
  • 2005 - Disney holds the premiere of the live-action film Sky High in Hollywood.
