  • 1960 - Roger Sessions' 4th Symphony premieres.
  • 1969 - Led Zeppelin plays the first of four nights at the Whisky A Go-Go, Los Angeles during the band's first North American tour. Support group is the Alice Cooper band.
  • 1970 - Dutch premiere of musical "Hair" in Amsterdam.
  • 1983 - The musical Annie is performed for the last time after 2,377 shows at the Uris Theatre on Broadway, New York City, New York, USA.

  • 1971 - Birth of Scott Underwood; rock musician (Train).
  • 1975 - Birth of Doug Robb; rock singer (Hoobastank).

  • 1963 - Death of Dick Powell at age 58 of cancer of the lymph glands; movie star in the 1930's, radio star in the 1940's (Richard Diamond, Private Detective), TV star and producer in the 1950's (Four Star Playhouse, The Best in Mystery, Zane Grey Theater, The Dick Powell Show).
  • 1974 - Death Woodward Maurice Ritter AKA Tex Ritter of a heart attack at age 67; country singer (theme song to High Noon movie (1952), disk jockey (Nashville radio).
  • 1977 - Death of jazz piano great Erroll Garner ("Misty") at age 53.
  • 1981 - David Lynch, singer (Platters - "My Prayer"), dies at age 51 of cancer.
  • 1989 - Death of Eddie Heywood Junior at age 73; pianist and composer ("Canadian Sunset").
  • 1997 - Randy California [Wolfe], rock guitarist (Spirit), dies at age 45 after being caught in a current off the coast of Hawaii.
  • 1998 - Death of veteran record producer Nik Venet in Los Angeles of lymphoma at age 62. During his career, Venet produced more than 300 albums by such greats as the Beach Boys, Glen Campbell, and Bobby Darin.
