  • 1967 - The Rolling Stones rock group appears on The Ed Sullivan Show.
  • 1976 - Sarah Caldwell is first woman to conduct at New York's Metropolitan Opera House as she leads orchestra in a performance of "La Traviata".
  • 2008 - In Beverly Hills, California, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association announces winners of the Golden Globe Awards at a press conference. The usual three-hour broadcast was scrapped due to threats of strikers and a boycott.
