  • 1990 - Death of June Christy in Los Angeles of kidney failure at age 64; jazz and big band singer (Stan Kenton Orchestra).
  • 1997 - Death of Arthur Prysock at age 74; Grammy-nominated rhythm-and-blues singer ("Teach Me Tonight").
  • 1999 - Death of Kami, Japanese drummer (Malice Mizer) (born 1973).
  • 2001 - Death of John Lee Hooker natural causes at 83; veteran bluesman ("I'm in the Mood", Grammy award 1990, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 1991).
  • 2002 - Death of Matt Dennis at age 88; singer/songwriter (Tommy Dorsey band - "Everything Happens to Me", "Let's Get Away from It All", "The Night We Called It a Day"), musical director for the Dick Haymes radio show.
