  • 1900 - Tom Hayward scores 1,000th cricket run of season (sets record 1074).
  • 1902 - Australia Cricket all out 36 versus England, Edgbaston, their lowest ever.
  • 1913 - Alexis Ahlgren runs world record marathon (2:36:06.6).
  • 1914 - Chicago White Sox pitcher Joe Benz no-hits Cleveland Naps, 6-1.
  • 1927 - Detroit Tigers' first baseman Johnny Neun makes an unassisted triple play.
