  • 1918 - 50th running of Belmont Stakes (Johren wins).
  • 1938 - First night game at Brooklyn Ebbets Field (Cincinnati Reds 6, Brooklyn Dodgers 0) as Cincinnati Reds' pitcher Johnny Vander Meer pitches his second consecutive no hitter.
  • 1947 - First night game at Detroit Briggs Stadium (Detroit Tigers 4, Philadelphia Athletics 1).
  • 1951 - Joe Louis scores his last knock-out victory.
  • 1957 - New York Yankees trade Billy Martin and Ralph Terry for Ryne Duran.
  • 1962 - Philadelphia Phillies score ten runs in an inning against Cincinnati Reds en route to 13-8 win.
  • 1963 - San Francisco Giants' Juan Marichal no-hits Houston Colt 45s, 1-0.
  • 1976 - New York Yankees trade May, Martinez, Pagan, MacGregor and Demsey to Baltimore Orioles.
  • 1980 - Jorge Orta of Cleveland Indians gets six hits in a baseball game.
  • 1984 - Thomas Hearns knocks out Roberto Duran.
  • 1989 - Baltimore Orioles pull their 9th triple play (versus New York Yankees).
  • 2001 - The Los Angeles Lakers beat the Philadelphia 76ers 4-1 to win their second straight NBA Title. They also finish with the best overall record in playoff history, 15-1.
  • 2003 - The San Antonio Spurs defeat the New Jersey Nets to win the 2003 NBA Finals, 4-2.
  • 2004 - The Detroit Pistons upset the heavily favored Los Angeles Lakers to win the 2004 NBA Finals, four games to one.
  • 2022 - At Ball Arena in Denver, Colorado, USA, NHL Stanley Cup Final, game 1: Colorado Avalanche beats Tampa Bay Lightning by score 4-3, leading series 1-0.
