  • 1912 - Pitcher Rube Marquard loses after winning 19 straight games.
  • 1928 - Philadelphia Phillies set record of errorless 25-inning doubleheader.
  • 1935 - American League beats National League 4-1 in third US All Star Game (Cleveland, Ohio).
  • 1941 - American League beats National League 7-5 in 9th All Star Game (Briggs Stadium, Detroit).

  • 1980 - National League beats American League 4-2 in 51st All Star Game (Dodger Stadium, Los Angeles, California).
  • 1984 - John McEnroe beats Jimmy Connors for Wimbeldon singles.
  • 1990 - Federal Republic of Germany defeats Argentina 1-0 for soccer's 14th FIFA World Cup at Rome, Italy.
  • 1990 - Italy beats England in soccer's FIFA World Cup consolation game.
  • 1990 - Stefan Edberg beats Boris Becker for Wimbeldon title.
  • 1990 - Trailing 7-0, Milwaukee Brewers tie California Angels and then score 13 in 5th to win 20-7.
  • 1996 - Martina Hingis becomes the youngest person in history (age 15 years and 282 days) to win at Wimbledon in the Ladies' Doubles event.
  • 2005 - In Singapore, the International Olympic Committee takes a secret vote on the approval of the 28 current summer Olympic events scheduled to be played at the 2012 Summer Games in London. Baseball and softball are eliminated.
  • 2007 - Roger Federer wins the Men's Singles of tennis, at Wimbledon for the fifth time in a row.
  • 2018 - At the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, in Bowmanville, Ontario, Canada, the Mobil 1 SportsCar Grand Prix race is held, round 7 of the IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship series.
    • Finishing 1st in Prototype class and 1st overall is the CORE autosport #54 ORECA LMP2 driven by Colin Braun and Jon Bennett.
    • Finishing 1st in GT Le Mans class and 10th overall is the Ford Chip Ganassi Racing #67 Ford GT driven by Richard Westbrook and Ryan Briscoe.
    • Finishing 1st in GT Daytona class and 18th overall is the Mercedes-AMG Team Riley Motorsports #33 Mercedes-AMG GT3 driven by Jeroen Bleekemolen and Ben Keating.

  • 2022 - At T-Mobile Park in Seattle, Washington, USA, Major League Baseball regular season game: Seattle Mariners beats Toronto Blue Jays by score 5-2.
  • 2022 - At Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, California, USA, Major League Baseball regular season game: Los Angeles Dodgers beats Chicago Cubs by score 4-3.
